Manchester United target labelled better than Fernandes and Rashford by exRed Devil

As long as Crystal Palace have the gamechanging, matchtwisting talents Ebere Eze and Michael Olise at their disposal, you’d be a brave man to rule The Eagles out of any game.

Sheffield United found themselves 10 and 21 up in side the first 20 minutes of an enthralling Premier League clash at Selhurst Park on Tuesday night, but visiting coach Chris Wilder could do nothing from his vantage point on the touchline to prevent a stirring Palace fightback, two of the division’s most talented forwards producing performances that would not have looked out of place at the Camp Nou, at the Etihad or, perhaps, Old Trafford.

“We got pushed back. Those two players decided a pretty tight game,” Wilder sighs, Eze scoring two equally brilliant but very different goals before Michael Olise rattled home a glorious secondhalf winner from long distance.

“The quality that those two players have… You’re up against minimum £50 million for both of those players. You have to deal with that, that’s what the Premier League is about.

“We do prep and we do structure and we have a game play. But I think what happens is that those boys can destroy your game plan through individual brilliance.

“You can have all the plan in the world, but those boys find a way.”

Manchester United are big Michael Olise fans

According to The Standard, Manchester United’s new minority investors have identified Olise as one of the club’s leading targets for the summer of 2024, with INEOS chief Sir Jim Ratcliffe keen to base his Red Devils’ rebuild upon a foundation of exciting, homegrown talent.

MORE UNITED STORIES

Olise, who represents France at under21 level but has spent his entire career in England, would likely take the place of Antony at Old Trafford. And, in truth, an exhilarating display of craft, creativity and matchwinning class against Sheffield United was far above anything the underwhelming Brazilian has produced since stepping onto the Premier League stage in 2022.

“It was unbelievable,” Palace’s former Man United goalkeeper Dean Henderson tells the South London Press, Olise taking his tally to nine goal contributions in just eight league starts this term.

“Obviously Michael, we know what he’s capable of, cutting in and hitting it in the far corner, on the volley. (Olise and Eze) are top, top players and it’s great to see. I’m with them every day, so I sort of know them well.”

Crystal Palace star is a Red Devils fan

Henderson made 29 appearances for United between 2020 and 2022, and believes Olise’s talent outstrips any of the players he shared a dressing room with at Old Trafford, including the likes of Marcus Rashford and Bruno Fernandes.

“The pair of them (Olise and Eze) are probably the best two players I’ve actually played with,” Henderson adds. “Which is strange! But listen, we want to keep them here and we want to build a team around them boys and hopefully we can really kick on into the European positions in the years to come.”

Keeping Olise, in particular, may be easier said than done. The winger may have rebuffed Chelsea’s advances last year but doing so again in 2024 – particularly if Man United come calling – may require all of Palace’s powers of persuasion.

Olise, Football London reports, is a diehard Man United fan. If you were wondering why he seemingly refused to celebrate after scoring that stunning lastgasp equaliser against Erik ten Hag’s side in January 2023, well this may explain it.

Olise, the report adds, would choose the Red Devils over Chelsea in an instant if the two Premier League giants find themselves going headtohead for his signature.
