Borussia Dortmund reveal new Jadon Sancho blow after Manchester United loan transfer

Borussia Dortmund have revealed that Jadon Sancho has suffered a muscle injury with manager Edin Terzic citing the winger’s long exile at Manchester United as a contributing factor.

The 23yearold had not played since August prior to loan return to Dortmund, where he has tallied two assists in three matches. Sancho’s public spat with United boss Erik ten Hag, which began after a game at Arsenal back in September, saw the England international fail to build on his three United appearances.

Despite his lack of game time, Terzic deemed Sancho fit enough to play two days after his arrival with the player keeping in shape during the interim period. He has played three times in 15 days but might not be available for Friday’s trip to Heidenheim due to his setback.

Speaking ahead of the game, Terzic said: “Jadon currently has muscular problems in the adductor area, which is not surprising after his long break. We will wait and see how things develop over the next two days and decide at short notice whether he will travel with us to Heidenheim.”

Sancho’s future at Old Trafford is one decision in Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s transfer intray. The player’s contract does not expire until 2026 so United will hope to receive a healthy fee for the attacker, should a sale decision be made.

Ten Hag stood by his comments that Sancho’s poor training levels were the reason behind his axing against Arsenal, but has indicated that he may welcome him back into the squad should an apology be delivered.
