Stuttgart, Germany, Feb. 16, 1973: Authors Chester Himes, left, and James Baldwin converse on the “Black Literature Night time” and “Dialogue of the Racial Scenario in America and Europe” on the Liederhalle. Himes was the writer of the noir Harlem Detective collection of novels in addition to a number of political works on the Black expertise in the US. A number of of his books have been tailored to the massive display, together with his first novel “If He Hollers Let Him Go” (1968), “Cotton Involves Harlem” (1970) and “A Rage in Harlem” (1990). Baldwin was the writer of “Go Inform It on the Mountain” (1953), “Notes of a Native Son” (1955), “Giovanni’s Room” (1956), “Going to Meet the Man” (1965) and “If Beale Road Might Speak” (1974).
